Located in Northglenn, Colorado.
The Background Behind My Visit: I went to get my oil changed today and decided I wanted to eat my favorite quiche combined with a cinnamon roll and cold brew coffee with a french vanilla flavor. It worked out well because I am here eating, listening to motivating Flamenco music playing in the background, no one else is here, and I am in the mood to write about the energy and food in this place. The fresh quiches come out in 30 minutes, so here I am sipping my cold brew ready to share why this place is so awesome. Side note: The green chile, bacon, gouda quiche is well worth your taste buds and money. It has a little kick to it, but you keep coming in for more bites.
This is a local pastry restaurant near 120th and Colorado that serves homemade cinnamon rolls (large and mini ones), quiches (vegetarian and meat lovers), flavorful cookies, coffee (iced and hot), tea, milk, orange juice, and pies. For first time visitors, you get to try a cookie on the house. Trust me, you will be instantly gratified and you will never forget that taste. Additionally, as you try the food, remember it is all home-made. The first time I walked in, I remember Sam (one of the owners) told me they mix the dough for cookies by hand. Also, they have a punch card. Keep that punch card so that you can get a free item when it’s filled out.
The Reason Cinna Box Exists: Alex (also an owner) has a culinary background and Sam (his fiance) has a background in biology. They originally wanted to open a 24-hour restaurant that specializes in healthy food. They chased that dream and weren’t able to secure the place to start the business. Like true entrepreneurs in pursuit to keep their passion alive, they continued on and were understandably a little bummed that the dream hadn’t carried out just yet.
Alex reported one day he wanted to eat a cinnamon roll for a pick me up. He explained as a child cinnamon rolls were something he enjoyed similar to me in that I seek out chocolate to put a little pep in my step. He usually got his cinnamon rolls from a popular chain which exists in Colorado, but there were not many options nearby. He didn’t want to drive far to get a cinnamon roll so he started investing in his recipes for cinnamon rolls and additional foods. Sam and Alex started a food truck 3 days later and here they are today!
They had the food truck for a year and then a restaurant. The restaurant has been open for two years and I foresee this place will grow to the point that you will see them on the Food Network channel. His fiance, Sam, an incredibly passionate soul interested in all the humans that walk through the front door works alongside Alex to help this place succeed. She always has an interesting thing to say about their ingredients and where they purchase their products. If you chat with either Alex or Sam about any of their ingredients, you can see their passion for quality ingredients and excitement for food come through their words. Just by chatting with him I learned about another place that has an interesting background. I will have to add it to my list of rad places.
Ambiance: There is some interesting artwork on the walls that to me express creativity and excitement about life. They have some mosaics on the wall that looks like cinnamon rolls and I confirmed that is the design. Alex highlighted the details in the artwork go to Sam, so shout out to Sam. The restaurant has 4 smaller tables and a large family sized table.
What Do They Need? All that said, now you know the history behind Cinna Box and the passion this team brings to their food. You should also know they are looking to add to their team. Sam and Alex are looking for an experienced baker that can add to their success and produce these high-quality pastries. For example, one of their qualifications includes 3 years of professional experience and/or baking & pastry degree. If you are interested in this field and want to join this qualified team, they ask you drop off or email your resume to cinna.bx@gmail.com. I don’t get anything from this post except excitement sharing the details behind this homegrown jewel in the food business.
