Location: Chautauqua Park – Boulder, CO
The day before I started my first day at my new job, we decided to go for a short hike. We had a couple of places on our list, but we decided to visit the Flatirons in Boulder because of the short driving distance. We hiked for about 2 hours before the rain/snow started falling. Although it was cut short due to weather, I had a great day just looking at the green environment, throwing sticks for the dog, and hiking with my man.
Suggestions for this hike:
- On the weekends, Chautauqua Park gets very busy. You probably still want to hike, right? Go in the afternoon.
- The first 3/4 of a mile is pretty easy and the views are great.
- As you get further into the hike, the crowds will thin out. Many people only walk the first mile and pose for pictures.
- I suggest trying the Royal Arch for a challenging hike.
- For a less challenging adventure, hike to the first flat iron.
