This morning, I woke up, carried out my morning jog on the treadmill, and then looked for a place to have some San Antonio breakfast. You might ask, hey, why not run outside? Well, I wanted to experience the treadmill in the exercise room. From now on, I may run outside because it was a sweat fest in the exercise room. My clothes were just drenched in sweat. Lesson. Learned. After working out and showering, I took an Uber to The Courtyard Café, in San Antonio, Texas.
I wanted to eat at a local place and found it was about 10 minutes away. It closed down for a while and recently re-opened with a new owner. I took an Uber to this place from the Omni Hotel.
The first Uber driver- Clean car, quiet, had some Southern Baptist music playing, and he felt comfortable enough to sing to the music. He spoke with a gentle Texas accent and drove his car really well. The background music made my adventure to this breakfast place rather pleasant. He left me at my stop and I continued on my journey to eat some breakfast.
Review of the Restaurant– From the outside, the Courtyard Café seems a little run down and just doesn’t stand out as a place I want to visit. Once I stepped inside, I was greeted instantly and taken to my table. They had a decent selection of food with great prices. I ended up getting some coffee as well as the southwest omelet with a homemade biscuit. Every bite was delicious! In addition to great food, I also had some attentive servers. Even people who weren’t assigned to me were offering me coffee. At that point, I continued to accept the coffee refills.
The omelet was great because they actually cooked the veggies in my omelet, every bite had flavor, and the salsa on top was bursting with spice. The biscuit was home made and didn’t require a jam or butter topping. After I finished my meal, I hung around to read my paper feeling accomplished because I chose a great place to eat and it was a decent price for my meal.
My Uber ride home was also interesting because this guy loved discussing the flavor of cream corn and chicken fingers. He had a good point as he discussed chicken fingers. For example, how do you make a mistake cooking chicken fingers? I don’t really know a lot about chicken fingers, but the conversation was entertaining.
Stay tuned for my lunch exploration!
