Investing Time to Improve My Writing Skills-2019

In 2018, I left one position (without a job) and entered into the job market open to new opportunities. This event was at first exciting, but shortly after I left, the insecurities emerged. It forced me to analyze all of my experiences and boast my skills. I was a hot mess for two weeks as I navigated how to highlight my skills to find the perfect position for me.

During my hot mess episode, I established an exercise routine. I am proud that I have kept up my exercise routine into 2019. My efforts are apparent with a tone body and 20 lbs of weight loss. I had to buy new clothes because of the weight loss.

Two weeks after I quit the position, I obtained a new position that was flexible, close to home, and a learning experience for leading a team. I learned through trial and error. I often came home frustrated or excited about an accomplishment. It was a roller coast ride and still feels like it. I am getting better at managing the roles in this position. Though I am getting stronger, I stopped pursing interests such as writing and playing music in 2018. So, for 2019, I want to improve my communication skills related to writing. Playing my Uke is also on the horizon, but I need to establish a routine with my writing.

Improving my communication skills will involve a couple of steps.

Step 1: Write 1-2 times a week in this blog.

Step 2: Read 2 books a month and keep track of their topics, interesting information from the book, title of the book and the author.

Step 3. Follow 10 blogs that have different techniques for writing and would allow me to build my skills with writing.

Step 4: Read a blog entry 2-3 times a week.

Step 5: Figure out 2-3 themes I can write about. At this point, I know that I have some international travel coming up in March, so I think I can continue to write about travel.

Step 6: Attend a conference related to writing.

This initial plan may change, but I am dedicated to improving my writing skills. I want it to flow with strong vocabulary, but also be concise. These words will flow, I just need to invest time in making it a reality.
