The Train Ride to Islington, London
After the flight, we walked to the underground tube. We were fortunate enough to secure a seat on the train. One hour on the underground train with limited sleep after 15 hours of travel forces you to be creative with eye contact.
The train passengers were diverse. We had a young couple in front of us and a punk-dressed Russian couple with a child to the side of them. Above the young pretty couple was a cold sore lip balm advertisement. To the right of me, sleepy Pete. Around me were windows, but 90% 75% of that ride is underground, so not much to see. The result was darting my eyes in different directions, closing my eyes, and starting that routine again.
To be expected, I was also craving lip balm for my lips. I knew where it was in my coat, but my fingers were dirty, and I wasn’t interested in spreading London germs on my lips. This underground train experience on the London tube continued the next 7 days.
More to come!
